How Common is Keyword Research in Internet Based Marketing

There is not one minute, one hour or one day that passes that a writer has not typed in a specific keyword into one of the many online search engines to get some sort of idea about the subject they will write their next article about. Is it a good idea to do a bit of keyword research whenever you are going to write an article about a subject that is unknown by you or one that you know very little about? The answer to this is yes and no. Keyword research can be very helpful, especially when you do not have a clue about the subject you are writing about.
